I never
would have thought this was going to happen, but some banks are giving up to
$5,000
to the homeowners to basically do a short sale instead of letting the
home go to foreclosure.
In effect as of April 5th, 2010!
As part of
the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program (HAFA), with a short
sale
you can get $3,000
cash back at closing to use towards your relocation expenses in
addition to avoiding a foreclosure!
Some lenders are offering up to
$5,000 cash back
for completing
a short sale!
Now we will have to see if this is as hard to get as a loan modification is to get done.
But, it’s
just another great reason not to let your home go to foreclosure.
The main reason of course would be to avoid the deficiency judgement.
